Hari Shankar

"It's 6.00 AM, and we're winding up the ghats of Silent Valley National Park, slowing only at narrow hair-pin bends, and Hari, keen-eyed, sits there in the front with the driver. A few minutes pass and Hari suddenly lets out a shout- "Snake!!" and compels the driver to bring the jeep to a juddering halt. In the next few seconds, there's a blur of action and then you see him grinning ear to ear with a very large rat snake in his hands as the petrified driver looks on from a distance. A fervent ‘wildlifer,’ with a soft corner for snakes, Hari is passionate about birds and birdwatching. His special interest lies in photographing and chronicling butterfly species in India."

Roshni Mukherjee

"I owned my first book on famous photographers when I was 9 and from much before I had touched a fancy camera, Man Ray, Annie Leibovitz, and Bill Brandt were on my ‘Amazing People’ list. Traveling is second nature to me, and I am lucky to have traveled avidly throughout the country. I caught the birding bug in 2006, acquired some fancy equipment and have now progressed to find my niche in macro and landscape photography. My special interest lies in photographing butterflies and dragonflies. My other passions include Indian cinema and American literature."

Memory Book

Many of us have had the pleasure of working with Hari and Roshni. We've also shared many moments with them. Anyone who knows either of them, knows there can never be a dull moment when around them-- you know you'll walk away having heard a fascinating story about Chambal, or a rare species of bird spotted in a place you've never heard of before... or just this one liner that cracks you up. We've experienced the warmth of their friendship, and we're so glad to have known them. We're also deeply grateful to these moments and memories. These will last a lifetime.

If you have an experience you want to share, please make sure to write in the memory book. If you have pictures you would like to see in the album, please email them to Nikhil Nash

I miss you Roshni! We were just beginning to become friends. I guess, God didn't consider me worthy enough of your friendship and loved you too much. That's why HE decided to be selfish and take you away from us. You will always live in our hearts and I pray that you are happy wherever you are.

God bless you and Hari...

Its very painful to realise that Roshni is not there amongst us. I've known her since our school days at South Point, Calcutta. I just can't believe this. its so very unfortunate.. it pains me immensely! I miss her dearly....
